At PhysKids, we provide specialist physio for kids from infancy through to adolescence, with experience across developmental, neurological, disability, orthopaedic and rehabilitation needs.

Your child may need physiotherapy because they’re taking a little longer to reach a milestone. They may have a congenital or neurological condition that affects the way they move. They might be recovering from surgery or an injury, experiencing pain, or need more specialised support such as serial casting.

Whatever brings you to PhysKids, we’ll start by understanding your child, assessing their individual needs and developing a clear, personalised treatment plan to support their movement, strength, confidence and independence.

A more complete approach to paediatric physiotherapy
Children don’t always fit neatly into one category of care. A child with a neurological condition, for example, may also develop orthopaedic concerns or require rehabilitation, casting or aquatic therapy at different stages.

PhysKids brings experience across multiple areas of paediatric physiotherapy into one clinic. This allows us to look at the bigger picture and, where appropriate, support different aspects of your child’s physical development and care without continually referring your family between different physiotherapy providers.

Our services include early intervention and developmental physiotherapy, neurological physiotherapy, orthopaedic care, injury and post-surgical rehabilitation, serial casting, strength and conditioning, disability support and hydrotherapy through Flipper Academy.

Physiotherapy for babies and early childhood
The first few years bring enormous changes in the way babies and young children move and explore their world.

Baby and early childhood physiotherapy at PhysKids supports infants and young children with developmental and movement concerns, including delayed gross motor milestones, congenital conditions, torticollis, plagiocephaly and other concerns affecting early movement.

We use gentle, age-appropriate assessment and treatment and work closely with parents and caregivers so you understand what’s happening and how you can support your child at home.
Physiotherapy for children
From running around the playground to learning new physical skills, children’s bodies are constantly growing, moving and changing. Our paediatric physiotherapists work with children experiencing a broad range of developmental, musculoskeletal, neurological and movement concerns. Depending on your child’s needs, physiotherapy may focus on areas such as:
-
strength
-
balance
-
coordination
-
gross motor development
-
mobility
-
pain
-
injury recovery or
-
building the physical skills for everyday life.

Treatment is personalised to your child and designed to make movement meaningful, achievable and engaging.
Physiotherapy for teens
Growing bodies can bring a different set of physical challenges.
PhysKids provides physiotherapy for teenagers experiencing sports injuries, pain, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, as well as young people recovering from surgery or injury or managing an ongoing condition.

Whether the goal is getting back onto the sporting field, returning to everyday activities or becoming stronger and more confident in their body, we’ll develop a rehabilitation plan around the individual young person.
Physiotherapy for children with disability and additional needs
Children with disability and complex needs may require physiotherapy for many different reasons throughout childhood.
We support children with physical disability, autism, neurological conditions, developmental disability and other complex presentations, with physiotherapy tailored to each child’s individual abilities, goals and support needs.
Importantly, our experience extends beyond developmental physiotherapy. Children with complex and additional needs can also experience orthopaedic conditions or require casting, rehabilitation and other forms of physiotherapy. PhysKids address these different needs within the one clinic, providing greater continuity for children and their families.
And if your child finds appointments, unfamiliar environments or communication challenging, you don’t need to worry. We work with children of different abilities, personalities and communication styles and will meet your child where they’re at.

Hydrotherapy at Flipper Academy
Sometimes the best place to work towards a child’s physiotherapy goals is in the water.

PhysKids’ hydrotherapy services are delivered through Flipper Academy, our established specialist aquatic therapy service.

Hydrotherapy uses the properties of water to support therapeutic movement and exercise. Depending on the child and their goals, aquatic therapy can be used to work on areas such as mobility, strength, balance, physical capacity and confidence.

Flipper Academy remains our dedicated home for hydrotherapy and aquatic therapy, while working closely with the PhysKids team to provide connected care where children benefit from both land and water-based physiotherapy.
If you’re concerned about your child’s movement, development, pain or recovery, our physiotherapists can assess what’s happening, talk you through what we find and recommend the most appropriate next steps.

From first milestones to complex rehabilitation, we’re here to help your child keep moving forward.
